Pfalzkeller

Impressive cellars lie beneath the courtyard wing and the Neuen Pfalz. In 1998/99, Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava converted them into expansive seminar and meeting rooms, and a spectacular, retractable entrance gate was installed on the east side. Calatrava’s typical expression of form lends a sense of lightness to the Pfalz cellars. Location: borders the St.Gallen Abbey District, entrance across from the cantonal police station.
