National “Cycling in Switzerland” Route No. 9

This ten-day Lakes Route right through picture-perfect Switzerland is particularly delightful. In eastern Switzerland, Lake Walen and Lake Constance will tempt you to stop and relax along the route from Niederurnen to Rorschach.

During a cycling tour along Lake Walen, the mild climate is especially evident, allowing even figs and kiwis to be cultivated here. The unbelievably high rocky cliffs of the Churfirsten mountain range seem to threaten to tip over into the 150m-deep water below. Along the next section to Rorschach, Schloss Sargans entices you to take a break if castles appeal to you. The ride through the Rhine Valley is splendid and you will finally see the silvery glint of Lake Constance in the distance. Then it is definitely time to treat yourself to a culinary feast or take a long, relaxing bath.
