This two-day cycling tour leads through the principal wine-growing region of eastern Switzerland and past the Ittingen Carthusian monastery.
The southern-facing slopes of eastern Switzerland seem to have been created with growing grapes in mind. The monks of the Ittingen Carthusian monastery realised this 800 years ago. Outstanding wine is still produced today in the former Carthusian monastery. On the section from Schaffhausen to Weinfelden, countless vineyards line the road. The second section is particularly attractive with the green Fürstenland region, which ends when the industrial belt between Gossau and St. Gallen begins.
