Guided tour of St.Gallen’s old town including Abbey library
The St.Gallen Abbey District has been a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site since 1983. The lavish Baroque ensemble including library and cathedral will leave you in awe even if you’re not interested in culture. During the 90-minute tour, you learn many interesting facts about the Baroque cathedral with its imposing twin towers – the landmark of the city of St.Gallen and one of the last monumental monastery buildings of the Baroque period. At the heart of the Abbey District is the Abbey Library, one of the oldest and most beautiful libraries in the world. The impressive collection of original medieval manuscripts has made this institution world-famous. This tour also takes you through part of the old town.
